Morphettville Parks Preview

Morphettville Parks preview, Saturday, December 20 House of Wax could prove a value chance in the Jim’s Cleaning Handicap (14400m) at Morphettville Parks on Saturday, December 20. The Jon O’Connor-trained four-year-old has been quoted at $10 in early markets and represents good each-way prospects in the final event of the day. House of Wax looked a little unlucky when a two length second to Rewind Time over 1408 metres at Balaklava on December 3 at his most recent start. “He is going well but the time has come to step up his placings into wins,” O’Connor said. “At Balaklava he hot squeezed out at the start and settled further back than we would have liked, then in the home straight he again didn’t have the best of luck. “We’ve put a senior jockey in Todd Pannell on for Saturday’s race and House of Wax has also drawn well in barrier five. “There is good speed in the race which should suit and hopefully he can power home over the final stages.” The interesting runner in the race is the Tony McEvoy-trained Right To Roam to be ridden by Matthew Neilson. After trialling well in Adelaide, Right To Roam was taken to Bendigo for his first start for McEvoy and was backed from as much as 16/1 to start 3/1 favourite but didn’t like racing inside horses and was never really comfortable. He eventually finished tenth but was only three and a half lengths from the winner. From gate 10 at Morphettville Parks he is not likely to suffer the same problem. Best bet of the day could be Spartan Warrior, from the all-conquering Darren Weir stable in the John Tonani 40years at SATC Handicap (1000m). Spartan Warrior will be ridden by in form apprentice Josh Cartwright and is a $3.30 chance in early markets.
