Becchara and Stef 2014/15 SA Open Champions

January 10, 2015

Women's top seeds Becchara Palmer and Stef Weiler partnered for their first SA Open title at Glenelg today.
2012 London Olympian Palmer, produced a class performance to bring home her fourth SA Open.
"Playing with Stef was great," Palmer said.
"She completely held her own on court this weekend and shows maturity beyond her years, especially in tight moments in the final.
This was Victorian Stef Weiler's first SA Open win and she was excited to win the gold medal.
"I was super pleased with the weekends efforts," former Grovedale Victorian Weiler said.
"Playing with Bec was an amazing opportunity, she's such an experienced player and even from the short time we've been playing together, my game has grown a lot and I'm excited to see what the future holds.
Queenslander pair Caitlyn Whittaker and Patricia Morris challenged the favourites grabbing the lead early in set one before Palmer and Weiler closed out the set.

"The Qld pair definitely weren't going down without a fight, but Bec and I were focused on playing our game and controlling the controllables. We were ready for a challenge and stoked that we took out the title in straight sets.
Palmer and Weiler played more consistently as the match went on, almost like they took their game to another level in the second set to close out the match and take home the title.
"The Queenslanders came out hard at us, and we perhaps didn't have the presence with our serve like we would have liked in the first set," Palmer said.
"But we tightened that up in the second and were able to pull away, which was great.
Next up for Palmer will be the Queensland Open on the Australia Day Long Weekend.
For Weiler she too will be heading to Queensland to compete in the event.
"I'll be flying to Brisbane tomorrow to train with Phoebe Bell, and we'll be competing at a few tournaments on the coast together," Weiler says.
"After that the future isn't set in stone, but I'm looking towards competing internationally again.
"I'm pretty motivated to get some positive results for 2015, so am looking forward to the year to come.
