South Australian Surfers shining

South Australia's most talented surfers are currently competing in the Scoot WQS Event in Burleigh. Six South Aussies Dion Atkinson, Teale Vanner, Max Longhurst and Brett Edwards are contesting for the mens title. For the Women's event, 2014 Australian Junior Title Winner Tayla Hanak and Surfing SA Female Surfer of the Year Ellie Francis are leading the way for SA. Today they completed Round One and got through the first nine heats of Round Two in the Men's. 2014 WCT Competitor Dion Atkinson was seeded through to Round 2 with Vanner, Longhurst and Edwards having to compete in Round 1. In round 2 Longhurst unfortunately got knocked out, Vanner won his heat and progresses through to round 3. Atkinson and Edwards are yet to surf their round 2 heats kicking off tomorrow. The Women's event is still on hold and when that proceeds our very own National Champion, Tayla Hanak compete. Hanak has recently returned from Six Star Event in China where she made it through the first two rounds beating some big names. Francis is also keen to impress starting her 2015 WQS campaign. These talented surfers are all part of the pathways provided by Surfing South Australia "We are really stoked to see these South Aussie's taking on the worlds best," Surfing SA's Craig Potgieter said. "With them making an impact on the world stage, is something we are really proud of."
