Softball: Weise wins title for Sturt

With an incredible come-back, Sturt scored three runs in its last at bat to overhaul a brave West Torrens 3-1, in A grade softball's grand final at West Beach on Saturday night, to claim back-to-back premierships. Eagles pitcher Laura Bond was in fine form, shutting Sturt out through the first five innings, before the Falcons tied the game up after Maddie Cameron's triple and Alicia Herron's RBI single, with Katie Wiese then belting a two-run hit up the middle in the sixth. West Torrens scored its run in the fourth frame – on Carly Allen's RBI hit to left field – and looked winners before the Sturt fightback. Monica Perry was outstanding from the circle for the Falcons, pitching seven innings for three hits and two walks, while striking out 13 batters. Game MVP went to Wiese, for her good work at first base and the match-winning two-run single.
