The Linemaster to make his debut for We're Flying Syndicate

Harness Racing South Australia’s ‘We’re Flying’ syndicate three-year-old may make his local debut at Port Pirie on Friday, December 30.

Trainer-driver Ryan Hryhorec said while it wasn’t ideal, he felt a Port Pirie three-year-old over 2050 metres might be the perfect place for The Linemaster to have his first run.

“I’m sure the syndicate would like to see him at Globe Derby Park but as a trainer it is about placing your horses to give them their best chance,” Hryhorec said.

The trainer was speaking after The Linemaster had his first public appearance for his new connections at a trial session at Globe Derby Park on Sunday, December 18.

The three-year-old led up from gate two in his 1800 metre trial before being swamped in the home straight running a close fourth to smart filly Ellen Louise.

“He came away nicely out of the mobile and led comfortably,” Hryhorec said.

“He was a bit once-paced when the pressure came on over the final stages and wanted to drift up the track in the home straight.

“It was a good trial to test him out as the placegetters Ellen Louise, Wroxton Balboa and Brohart have all shown ability. I didn’t knock him around in the home straight and he battled on well.”

Hryhorec said The Linemaster had pulled up well and he would tinker with his gear to try and stop him wanting to drift up the track.

The Linemaster is the first horse purchased to race under the We’re Flying Syndicate, a promotional iniaitive of Harness Racing South Australia.

HRSA chief executive John Lewis is the syndicate manager and the syndicate boasts Adelaide Crows footballers Josh Jenkins, Richard Douglas and Tom Lynch as well as 5AA and Channel 9 media personality Tom Rehn as shareholders.

The three-year-old was a winner over 1690 metres at Shepparton on February 25 and hasn’t raced since finishing unplaced at Bendigo on September 9.

Hryhorec said the We’re Flying Syndicate’s second purchase, three-year-old filly Goodtime Scout, was due to arrive at his stable this week.
