Canadian LPGA star Brooke Henderson is determined to become the number one ranked player in the world.

At 19 years of age Henderson is currently ranked number nine on the Rolex Rankings and since her rookie season in 2015 she has recorded some impressive achievements.

The Canadian is the third youngest winner in LPGA tour history, made 43 from 45 cuts over her short career including 16 top 10's and last season (2016) she made the second most birdies ever in a single LPGA season, yet she wants to become even better.

"Over the off-season I had some time to reflect a little bit on my 2016 season," Henderson told Our Sporting Life SA.

“It was awesome!

"Now I am looking forward to 2017 and trying to use the things I learned last year to help me be even better this year. I am working on being more consistent and hopefully having even more top finishes this year."

Her sole focus is to be in the top five by the end of the year.

Henderson would also like to have more top ten finishes or wins along with defending her titles at the KPMG PGA of America Major Championship and the Portland Classic.

"One of my main goals for 2017 is get back in the top five in the Rolex Rankings," Henderson continued.

“The ultimate goal hoping to reach #1 in the next few years

"This year I am chasing after some more top 10's, defend my titles (at the KPMG PGA of America Major Championship and at the Portland Classic) and hopefully add a few more wins along the way."

After a long 2016 LPGA season playing 31 events, Henderson was able to put the clubs down and go back home to Ontario in Canada and enjoy time with family and friends.

"A month of my off season was spent back home where I spent time with my family and friends,” she confirmed.

"Being on the road and away from them so much it is always nice to hang out and catch up with them.

"I also went a lot of Ice Hockey games!

“These games are always so much fun! I went to two NHL games (Ottawa Senators), watched my cousins play at the local arenas and also watched lots on tv!

"I also enjoyed being in the snowy and cold weather!

“It was refreshing (she laughs).

“My sister (Brittany) and I built a snowman and just enjoyed being outdoors.

Last week Henderson started her 2017 season at the Pure Silk Bahamas event where she managed a credible tied for 21st in the event, but her eyes now firmly set on her next event at Royal Adelaide for the Australian Open.

"I was able to have a top-10 finish at the Australian Open last year and that is what I will be chasing after this year too," she said.

"Of course I would love to come away with the victory down under but playing well and finishing in the top 10..I will be happy."

Last year her Caddy and older sister Brittany were able to spend some time away from the course and loved what Adelaide had to offer with shops and restaurants along with staying close to the beach.

"Over the last couple of years playing on the LPGA and travelling all around I definitely have met a wide variety of people," Henderson explained.

"It is really cool though getting to travel around and see different languages, accents, cultures, customs, food choices, landscape, weather, native animals, etc. Getting to see where people come from is really fun.

"We loved Adelaide last year, the area by the hotel has tons of cool shops and restaurants. Plus, it is right on the beach.

"The golf course was great at Grange and this year at Royal Adelaide will be special.

“We are really looking forward to coming back to Adelaide.”

Henderson is fast becoming one of the most popular players on the LPGA tour and as her game continues to grow so to do her fans all throughout the world.

"I get recognized a lot more now which is really cool," she said.

"Hopefully I can continue to grow my fan base all around the world."
