SANFL win in the west

The West End SA State team has produced one of South Australia’s most memorable victories to win back the Haydn Bunton Junior Cup after defeating Western Australia in Perth today. Facing a WAFL outfit gunning for its seventh win in succession, the Croweaters clinched a seven-point victory in a thrilling encounter at Optus Stadium. It was the SANFL’s first win in the West since the Alastair Clarkson-coached SA team defeated the WAFL in 2003, giving Josh Carr’s class of 2019 plenty of reason to celebrate. The Fos Williams Medal for SA’s best player went to South Adelaide’s Michael Knoll who controlled the stoppages with 31 hitouts. North Adelaide’s Aidan Tropiano, originally from WA, was SA’s leading disposal winner with 28.
