White joins Strikers

The Adelaide Strikers have bolstered their squad with the signing of experienced batsman Cameron White for KFC BBL|09. White is the fifth-highest run-scorer in Big Bash history with 1546 runs, including 11 half-centuries and a high score of 88. The powerful right-hander has played 234 T20 matches and 47 T20Is in a decorated career that has featured three Australian Twenty20 titles, one JLT One-Day Cup title, and six JLT Sheffield Shield titles. His first BBL Championship came with the Melbourne Renegades last season. General Manager, High Performance Tim Nielsen believes White is the perfect fit for the Strikers. “Cameron adds a considerable amount to our side not only with his ability, but also his understanding of the game and he knows what it takes to be in a successful team,” Nielsen said. “In the fast-paced nature of T20 cricket, a cool head such as Cameron’s will help lead our side immensely, especially in the absence of Travis Head when he is on international duty. “To have such a distinguished player of our game will only boost our side and our younger players.” From his 135 Victorian First-Class appearances, White scored 7,453 runs at 36.17 including 11 centuries and 45 half-centuries, while in his 120 List A matches for the State, he scored 3,643 runs at 37.55 with seven centuries and 22 half-centuries. The 35-year-old also played four Tests, 91 One-Day Internationals, and he was captain for six T20 internationals in 2011. The Strikers have two remaining spots on their roster ahead of BBL|09, including an international vacancy after the departure of South African Colin Ingram for family reasons.
