Korea's latest young superstar Heejeong Lim

One of the World's most exciting young player's, Heejeong Lim, is set to play at both the 2020 ISPS Handa Vic Open and the ISPS Handa Women's Australian Open.

19-year-old Lim, is yet another world-class player that has come through the Korean LPGA Tour (KLPGA) system.

In 2019, Lim became just the third player in KLPGA history to have won three tournaments in a rookie season and now shares this record with only Gyu-Jeong Baek (2015) and former World number one Jiyai Shin (2006).

"I know that Jiyai and Gyu-jeong won three titles in a rookie season, I'm so happy to have won three titles too," Lim told Our Sporting Life SA

"I think the results were beyond my ability.

"I was satisfied and enjoyed my rookie season.

Korea continue to provide the industry with world-class female golfers and currently have an incredible 18 players inside the top 35 on the Rolex World Rankings.

After Lim's impressive 2019 Rookie season, she has rocketed to a career high world ranking of 24 after starting the year in along way back in 334th position. 

Lim's rookie season included a finish of fourth on the 2019 KLPGA money list and runner-up in the KLPGA Rookie of the Year.

She finished the second half of the KLPGA season in superb form with victories coming in August, September and October and her most cherished victory was a major KLPGA event, the KB Financial Championship. 

During her last five KLPGA events she had finishes of 1st, 6th, 2nd, 3rd, and 7th with an average score of 69.27 - an incredible effort to complete the year. 

Lim believes her confidence came after winning her first event in August, the HighOne Resort Ladies Open. 

"My golf style was good at the second half of the season, compared with the first half of the season," Lim said

"I got a lot of confidence through winning the title and my putter sense was good in the second half of the season.

Lim has been training hard in her hometown of Anseong which is located in Gyeonggi-do, Korea in preparation for this season and she hopes to have another win on the KLPGA Tour.

"My goal for 2020 is to win once and to achieve consistent results," Lim said.

"I would also like to play on the LPGA Tour, If I have the chance."

This will be her second consecutive Australian Open event, last year Lim suffered an ankle injury during the first round and unfortunately had to withdraw.
